Solar Panel Facility Wind Damage Investigation

A solar power energy facility sustained wind damage during storms in 2018, resulting in power loss. The owner engaged Walker to assess the damage and provide conceptual repairs/replacement options. Walker’s services included a thorough visual inspection of all components of the trackers where the systematic failure occurred, documentation of conditions by location, and observations of non-destructive testing of pre-selected weld joints. We also evaluated the repair recommendations provided by the engineer retained by the insurance company and joined meetings between the client, representatives from the insurance company and their engineers, and the owner. Our solutions allowed the client to have a clear understanding of the extent of damage and the proper measures required to mitigate the damage. The client now has a sound position for settlement discussions.
