The Not-So-Humble Curb: Leveraging Your Most Valuable Asset

Walker’s National Lead for Curb Management and New Mobility, Chrissy Mancini Nichols presented “The Not-So-Humble Curb: Leveraging Your Most Valuable Asset to Achieve Your Community’s Goals” at IPMI’s Mobility & Innovation Summit on February 25, 2021. Chrissy joined several municipal leaders from around the country to talk about initial findings from Walker’s curb management research. Walker is working with cities to vet and test vendors and technology to collect curb use data, monitor, and monetize the curb as well as evaluate policy issues with curb management and new mobility. The presentation also discusses learnings from implementing parklet programs including designing parklet guidelines and regulations and overcoming challenges with street design issues and creating dockless electric scooter programs in cities and on university campuses.
